"Start times" drop-down menu in fleet races?

Hi everyone. Let me tell you first that I love this weather routing tool. Thanks Cvetan!
I am not yet skilled with it, so I apologize for any nonsense I might say.
I was wondering if it was possible to insert something similar to the "start now" drop down list, used in the record racing, also in fleet racing routing. This would allow to check, for example, the course from a point that is far from the current racing track. Let's say I want to check if there is a possible alternative other than the one suggested by the router. I know that is possible do this by looking at the valleys and hills of the isochrones but having the visual "trace" of a possible alternative route (if any) would help me a lot. Let's say I want to know what the route would be from a location that is 3 hours off the suggested track. I could set a starting point from the "off track" position that I would reach in 3 hours and check the track suggested by the weather router from there. But I can only do that if I have a tool like the "start at" drop down menu and set 3 hours from now in the location mentioned above.
So do you think it would be feasible? Would it be of any use?
Thank you
Alessandro

Hi Tzigane,

We're many players to have asked for that, but if i remember well Cvetan doesnt want because he thinks it should cause mistakes by random players. I disagree, and lke u i think it would change our game experience in a huge way, and a mistake doesnt kill u if u learn to avoid it next time, but anyway the boss is the boss and big respect for him ;)

Thank’s From for the explanation. I wonder if there is a way to avoid that random players get confused like a warning sign or an “expert” function to be activated. I also think that since it already exists on record races, people get used to it. Anyway, as you said, strong respect for the boss opinion, but if he will change his mind in the future I will be more than happy. HNY to all!

There's an elegant simplicity to Zezo as it is. I think Cvetan is probably fairly heavily burdened maintaining it as it is, and rightfully hesitant to add complexities. For example... You can often achieve future routings from a position by routing from a start position that's backed up from there but would pass through there... If the landmasses and your imagination allow it. Adding capbilities will also add maintenance and confusion. Another example is that the router is incapable of considering routes that consider back-tracking. For example, sailing backward through the Hebrides after sailing around Ireland. Routes from Boston to Norway will dead-end in the Irish Sea. Unless you use Zezo with some imagination. I like that Zezo, as it is, invites some imagination. But... I seem to be a little unusual... I hate racing in a giant pile of boats who are all optimizing their routings via Zezo's basic recommendations. (I love Zezo. I just can't see that plan as fun).

I understand your point, and I agree. Probably the success of Zezo routing also lies in its "elegant simplicity" and in the fact that it forces you to use more imagination, leaving more space for individual initiatives, instead of having masses of boats all on the same track (and it already is in many cases), giving more thrill to the races.
Thanks YourMomSA for your thoughts.
