Yes there is. There is a built-in threshold that a new sail must exceed before you switch. However, apparently, when it does the server run it retroactively applies the best sail.

There's been a lot of panic that autosails isn't working. However, when seeing what's going on in Dashboard, it appears that the correct sail is being used, even if the interface indicates something different.

I'm checking right now that the automatic sail change does not actually depend on what our screen says - the client we have on our computer - but on the server, whose data is seen in the Dashboard.
Right now, the computer says that I have 18.2 knots, and the autosail drawing says that the best sail is the Stay sail, but in fact it still hasn't changed, because there are still 17.84 knots on the server. When I immediately go to 18-something, it will change ...

Already! 18.07 knots on the server, and change to the stay sail.

So as long as the staysail is flashing best do you think thats what the server reads?
I was a 62 TWA and 18.1 WS. So it should change on its own to stay sail but didnt. But the staysail was saying best
I had to log out and back to force the change.
So you are saying the server is read a slightly slower speed that we are?

Today at this time, when the wind in the app was 18.1 (so, flashig Stay), the real data in the server was 17.75 (not time to change). The real data are in the server. Ten minutes after, the server was 18+ and changed the sail.

So if I had waited it would have changed on its own a few minutes later?
Thanks ever so much for the explanation, which makes perfect sense as I didn’t get the “wrong sail “ warning!!!

If you have the Full Pack, autosails is always on and you can't override it. You can click all you want on the sail selection and it won't do anything. Just trust that autosail is going to take care of you. If you have the Dashboard extension you can see what it's really doing and I haven't seen it screw up in this race yet. Some of the early test races with the new engine, yeah, there were some definite problems.

The only time autosail will be a problem is if you are sailing a straight bearing in oscillating winds that take you across a sail change barrier, or sometimes at TWA when the WS change that does that. Pay attention to the polars and be careful around those points.
