sorry but i don't speak any french ...
What VIP offers is mainly the ability to see your planned route for the next 5 days and to program up to 15 waypoints, which is not bad. You can also check the polars from within the game interface, but this is something you can do easily in other an more precise ways.
If you have credits available to buy all the necessary options it can be an ok choice.
But if, on the contrary, you don't have enough credits, I would choose the full pack.
The main disadvantage of the full pack is that the autosail is always active, if you are very good at sailing VR it can become a limit, if you are a beginner like me it's ok, also because you can sleep sometime :))

this is because, in changing conditions, autosail changes are often too many, if you consider that each time you pay a time penalty (this is what I undwerstood).
The system automatically chooses the best sail, often the speed difference is tiny and youre not in the position to decide if it worth or not.

Some of the top sailors I've noticed are doing all races with fully optioned boats, purchased with credits so they can avoid autosail. For that to be an advantage would require 24hr a day vigilance. For anyone who likes to sleep and doesn't have a watch system with multiple persons operating one boat, that tiny advantage of avoiding unnecessary sail changes is greatly out weighed by the risk of running for an extended period with the wrong sail.

I wouldn't necessarily assume that's why they're doing it. I run on credits frequently just because I don't want to pay real money for every race and I have a decent accumulation of credits to spend. I see the ability to avoid autosails as a nice side-benefit that is occasionally helpful. I turn autosails on whenever a sailchange is needed and I can't be attentive, but I leave them off if there's risk of unwanted changes or if I will be online and would prefer to manage it directly.

If you win enough credits it is probably cheaper to top up what you need to run every race that way. Even if you won every race I don't think you'd have enough credits to be fully loaded and cashless though.

Fact is, I've never seen Tip and Buddha with autosail turned on, so I have to surmise that's to maintain control. BTW, there's currently 60+ miles between them. Never seen that before. Maybe they're having a bit of a spat ;)
