Does anyone have any advice about best way to cross the finish line? (other than as soon as possible or over not under;-). My main question is there any advantage to boat relative speed or speed over ground, etc. Seems like the last couple of times that I've crossed, my boat has been "thrown" back out and then crosses again after next minute of iteration and also drops several places. Does anyone have any idea anecdotal or otherwise that for example you should try to cross as close to perpendicular as possible, etc. Thanks! - Nat (natsail)

To my knowledge, all that matters is hitting the line as soon as you can, wherever you can, at whatever angle you please.

Also, I tend to ignore oddities with the graphics at the finish. I think they're bugs in the user display, not impacting the actual finish time. But I could be wrong.

Thank you thats helpful. Entertained some thoughts that I might squeak in to top 50 but at 53 at the moment and just about run out of time so I'll just keep it on the current course and give it another shot on leg 7!

I usually use a waypoint to poll which part of the circle I can reach earliest for the last couple of hours.

This time I programmed 6 waypoints to finish at 12h from NZ already because my VOR got screwed in the East. Along with BigBird, Tessa and others. Less than one hours from those VSR leaders still.

Clever! I've never thought of using waypoints for that!

Thanks for sharing this. I was struggling with this a lot. Using other software but don't know which patterns to download and how the game server behaves.
