10 EUR for full extras in hard cash (1 Leg)

I've added a link to the old Mini version. Polars are close enough (within few percent)

Will try to find some time to parse the new polars, including foils.

Will probably make just two versions (like it's now - All options/no options). Spending money for foils without extra sails does not make much sense.

I hope we'll actually sail more than 50 degrees off the wind in this race. The non-stop VMG beating in Zanzib is getting really boring.

Interestingly, in Zanzib, I believe it has been possible to perform at the top level without foils or heavy sails. The reaching sail has also been used very little (and probably not at all in Leg 3). People racing on a budget can evaluate the forecast and be picky about which options to choose, and can save some credits and still be at the top level, if they evaluate the forecast correctly and choose accordingly. This is something I actually like about VRO3. I just don't like the whole card game thing.

Cvetan, when I have looked at your IMOCA polars for Zanzib, it seems like the speeds and optimal VMG angles are good, but the sail change locations differ significantly from VRO3. VRO3 seems to want the Code Zero in a different TWA range from your polars, for example. Do you agree? Can this be adjusted? It would be helpful both for evaluating the pre-race decisions (ie, does the forecast have enough wind to justify buying Heavy sails, will we ever sail at an angle that justifies, foils, etc), and for deciding when to play the Autosails cards.

Same with the minis. Sail changes points are different (but there are still dips at the old crossover points)

PS - I agree with the comments that it's generally better to just pay cash up front for the full option package. As long as you want most of the options, it's a better deal and then there's no risk. But I have a substantial credit balance right now, and I'm not sure if I'll keep playing the game, so I'd rather spend my credits than put more money into it, in the short term.

Everything is still running on the old polars. I have to rewrite the polar compiler to understand the new data format (and integrate the foils).

I think the big difference of this version is that it annuls in practice the old option of navigating without payment options. Because it blurs the border between the two options.
We are all going to use the credits they give us for free. And that does not make sense to build a group and a classification in equality without options.
It may not be very expensive to sail by spending the minimum amount of credits, but I think many of those who navigated without options will end up paying a little ...

Agree. I think that is the sinister plan behind the change;) Also, some of the ones who paid for the options will end up paying substantially more. So in the end, Many Players will make more money.

No more waste of $$$$$. Too many changes in a very short period of time... Nonsense.
I'm not minded to keep following this stupid game of VR´s wise guys. I will take the chance to make the Mini and live the experience...
If VR will not reconsider their lack of sensitivity on how they have handled things, I'm gone.
Bye bye VVOR...

We understood ... if you could stop posting this MSG

There is another side to the change. You may decide to participate in few races without options just to collect cards.

And then use the collected points to play a real race.

But let's leave that to the VR marketing and get back to the sailing aspects of the game.

This is a good point, and some of the old 'Sans Option' seem to orientate to that approach.

Hi Cvetan,
Great job !!!

One question:
What's the meaning now of "6% extra speed"?

It's just what it says. Can be used to check the route stability against weather changes (like right now in the Mini turning it on moves the track along the coast). You could check the opposite by turning the pro options off (assuming you have the extra pack in the game)

For the next Clipper leg VR asks 14.99 euro. Many players, many legs, many money! (just kidding).

And 9.99 for the Mini. Sail/winch/foil prices are also increased accordingly.
