VG 2020-01-02 has Zezo a problem with geographic or ...

When I'm trying to look at a long term road; Zezo gives me a route that ends up on the west coast of Ireland instead of Les Sables D'Olonne.
Is it a bug or at the start of 2021, is Zezo showing his preference for Irish whiskey over French champagne?
(My preference is Belgian's beer - I'm Belgian) ;-)

Noticed the same strange behavior this afternoon myself...
If VG turns into a whiskey expedition I'd rather see the destination set to Islay :-)

The router has this quirk - it can't sail backwards towards the origin point. That's the price for the interactive performance.

Therefore it can make a hook around obstacles sometimes. That includes land masses and weather systems - in this case the high pressure area NW of France.

It will fix itself once we get closer.

Thankx Cvetan.

So now, we know and understand.

Your work is excellent.

What amazes me the most is the speed of calculation of the route compared to other routers.
Is it due to the programming language used which would allow less consumption of processor time?

What could be improved: In the application being able to extract Gpx, insert HDG and TWA in the <name> </name> zone or in a <desc> </desc> zone.

I'm new to e-sailing, but when I was sailing (1975-1990), no computer on board, which would have helped us: my worst sea nightmare = Fastnet Rolex 1979; I was 10 years old and crewed on a 34 footer in a force 11 storm.(googlize, you should understand)

Best wishes for 2021.

It's important to look at the isochrones and decide which side you want to go to, in a situation like that. If it won't go to the finish because it thinks the fastest route is to sail to Ireland and then double back, then you have to decide whether you'd rather sail to Ireland or Portugal. If you'd prefer to go to Portugal, you can set a destination there and force it to route there.

It's at the limit of 16 days ahead so can't decide. The forecast has a big low mid Atlantic but it doesn't really come close enough to Biscay to definitively whisk west route boats past those creeping up the Portuguese coast.
From my position (about 60 nm behind YourMomSA) it seems to have firmed up on Portugal, this morning it said go mid Atlantic. The choice is showing in different headings among the fleet - not all as expected. I's a difference of 20° in current recommended heading - a substantial choice - which one, or how long can I put it off?
