Buoys in the record race

Hi all,
As you probably all have noticed, there is a buoy number 2 on the south american continent, and a gate in between Cape Horn and the antarctic. I received an e-mail from VR that told me I could either leave the continental buoy to starboard, or I could go through the Cape Horn gate. Does that mean I can go through the Magellan Straits if conditions are good?
I know this question might seem stupid, but I wanted to chack with you guys, and not do anything stupid.

I don't think you can, this is probably a translation error. In VR all buoys are actually gates. The gates a arranged in groups and you need to clear at least one gate of each group. The continental and Cape Hoorn gate are in the same group, but you can't go through the continental gate because both ends are on land.

Right now, Zezo is tracing the route to San Francisco through the Strait of Magellan.
It's a mistake?
Is it the normal operation of Zezo looking for the shortest way?
Or is it Cvetan's assumption that the buoy in the middle of South America is operational, and it's not necessary to go down to Horn?

The router doesn't go around corners very well. If "ignore gates" is unchecked, it will try to observe the next mark. However, if you are in the Atlantic and routing to SF, it searches a cone around the great circle, and if that misses the gate, it will go straight to the destination.

Try picking some spot in the south Pacific and see if it will observe the mark at the Horn.
