My boat in VOR was using Heavy Gennaker, suddenly it was using C0 without any command by me to change, nor any penalty for the change was applied. But I had to change it back to HG, paying a penalty this time. (see image)

Your boat is still sailing with a HG (spot it in the green cell on the first array).

What you see in the second array is that your boat is sailing with a suboptimal sail.
Your boat speed is currently 12.99kts, while it could have been 25.99kts with a C0...


[EDIT] Oh sorry, I didn't read it right the first time.
Well, I don't know how it could have switched sail if you didn't apply an autosail card.
However, you chose to set back the HG, which is still not the best sail regarding the TWA at the moment you shown it...

Problem is that, according to Zezo's chart, C0 was the best, but 10 minutes later, would be HG; more 30 minutes, back to C0 for 40 minutes, going back to HG for hours. It would be stupid make so many sail changes in a short period, I was planning to maintain HG all the way, exactly to avoid the penalty that I paid anyway.

In this moment I would have to use C0 for 40 minutes, then change back to HG. I won't :-)

The sail in the vT column is the "best sail", not the one currently in use.

Looking at the numbers I'd say you were sailing with C0 for quite a while because the vR/vC are less than vT (HG)

At 8:00 you turned slightly upwind which made the C0 equal to the HG at that wind speed.

Sorry for the confusion.

Maybe we should add the current sail to the race log table to make it clearer that the one in the vT column is not necessarily your current sail.

That's a good idea, It's really a bit confusing the way it is now.

Maybe just add the sail to the vR column, without the Auto indicator (because we have AS timer next to it)

As we're on it, maybe you could merge the "aSail" information from the second table and the "sail" from the first table as well, so we can see when the autosail is active, and when it expires on a single spot...
