Hello everybody! New french VRO player since january, after 2 months of hazardous/random navigation against friends, I discovered Cvetan work... And It works! Thanx a lot for this excellent job, M. Zezo, and sharing your passion of sailing! I would like to thanx top players present in the forum, too.

My question is: When I woke up, I've check my boat on Normandy race, on my mobile, and I was surprise about his low speed (sorry, I prefer talking in km/h than in knots)

wind speed: 10.1 km/h, boat speed 6.8 km/h... Hmmm, low speed, bizarre...

Turn on computer, internet...VRO...wind speed: 10.1 km/h, boat speed 8.5 km/h...Less than a minute later.

Am I the only one who saw that? What is my real speed? Why am I sailing faster on comput than on mobile. No jokes ...ok my cpu has more power than my mobile... ;-)

I made screeshots of both situations but don't know yet how to post...

Thanx for your answers.

VR user interface is very poor on wind- and boatspeed, position updates or where you make your tack/gybe. Sometimes you gybe or tack near a coast, boat makes the manoeuver and sails away from the coast .....

... only to be placed on the rock 1 or 2 minutes later.

There is no way for accurate manual steering, so no other way than to accept that and take more margin.

I believe the Class 40 has a bug on IOS that's causing your own boat's speed (but not the other boats') to be shown at 80% of what you're actually doing. It also impacts your routing projection line, which makes coastal programmation very difficult. So the Normandy Channel Race has this issue on iPhones. I'm not sure about Android. It seems to work fine in Chrome on a desktop, though.

Yes. I confirm I have had this problem too (and aground because of this :-/
But fortunately, if you reinstall your mobile app, it works fine.

Ok, thank you for this infos!
I'm Android / mozilla... I'll try to reinstall app. ("bug" doesn't appear on Atlant Challng, same wind/boat speed)

It was just an issue with Class 40s. Thanks for the suggestion. I just reinstalled and it solved the problem. Odd that they didn't push it out as an update.

probably some kinda cache that wasn't cleared properly by the iOS-app.

They did that thing for the Muscat race, change the data without changing the polar ID, thus breaking the caching logic.

That was also Class 40's, right? I think it's actually just that the same problem carried forward for anyone who hadn't re-installed the IOS app since then.

Yes, Class40 with a globalSpeedRatio of 0.8
Post by iconPost by zezo | 2018-06-03 | 08:46:31
If I remember correctly they tried to apply the globalSpeedRatio = 0.8 as a parameter, but the client ignored it, so they multiplied the actual numbers by 0.8.

HI, Client now know the globalpeedratio, but you must reload the game from server with last update ...
On some phone, you MUST Stop appli, Clear datas and unload before get the new one !!!

Actually, we don't know, because except for the Muscat-Dubaï, no other race had a globalSpeedRatio different from 1...
