Hi Cvetan -

I've wondered occasionally... if you stored the wind data that was actually used for each period, would you be able to run an analysis at the end of each race to calculate the optimal performance? It would be interesting to see how this result compares to the winner.

I did it back in 2012 for some of the VOR legs. I was also recording the player tracks back then. The winner was pretty close to the perfect track, maybe a hour or two behind on a 25-day route.

Which is not unexpected, given the thousands of players and their separate tracks.

Do you count how many users are using the VVG plugin? I'm curious... :-)
(I'm aware the the question is not really well-defined).

The information is visible to all on the chrome web store.

Currently it says 2,583 users.

Which is about the half of all regular users, depending on how you do the stats.

Hi Cvetan and lot of thanks.
Another interesting thing would be a retrotracking from the destination to know from where will arrive the winner.
Is it possible?

You could do reverse front propagation, but you have to know the exact arrival time first.

Maybe the ETA of the race leaders', in order to know if an alternative way could be played. There's actually many unknowns for the arrival with a lack of wind in the gascogn gulf.

Hello

I've notice a difference between wind speed in virtual regatta and zezo.
As an example
for 28 50 40 W 26 00 15 N: 13/01/2017 00:07
VR: 9.1knts from 96°
Zezo: 7.3knts from 96°

Is it normal?

NOTE: your software is so great!!!
