Is zezo available to plan routes when not in volvo race mod??? Thank you..

Hi, looks like there are a few different races that zezo can be used with. Across the top of the Zezo routing screen next to POLARS, you will see VOR & Yvan Bourgnon Challenge. Obviously VOR is for VolvoOceanRace, if you click Yvan B Challenge, you will get another list of available races. I have never used any of these charts, but noticed they were available.

Ok thank you I was wondering if this programme is available to use when there are no racing and I can use for my own personal boat? for navigational aid.

Zezo like virtual races uses predicted winds, you want to use real winds, so you'll have to use a normal navigation program.

Normal navigation programs also use predicted winds, so that's not an issue.

The 12-hour update schedule is a problem. Real-world app should use 3 or 6 hour data, interpolated over time. Which is not a problem either.

But there is additional functionality needed for a usable real-world router:

- Obviously, custom boat polars

- Better resolution local forecast sources are needed for coastal navigation. GFS is not detailed enough for island/mountain wind shadows and thermal winds.

- Better navigation chart, not just coastline contour.

- Tides and currents play a big role in some parts of the world

- Preferences to avoid areas with too strong wind

- Options for motoring and motor-sailing for the cruisers, with motoring speed and fuel consumption estimates.

If you develop a program that can be used outside of Virtual Regattas
(especially if it could be adapted for the US Great Lakes, I would be the first one in line to buy it!
