Is there a specific reason why the SS program seems to cut off short of the finishing mark? One of the critical times in these MP races is the approach to the final mark of a Leg. While I realize that the sailor has to think some things out for himself, and I'm pleased to do so, is there a technical reason for this apparent abandonment just at this critical end-point?

The cutoff distance depends on the selected forecast duration. You should be able to get within the circle when using 1-day forecast.

But it may not be optimal. The real finishing criteria is "get within the 10 (or whatever) mile circle first, and that may or may not be the same as "go directly for the destination point"
