Hello everyone. Clipper Race announced prizes for all stage winners including prize to the owerall winner. Ventus Mare won 2 stages and owerall wins.

He has not received anything. I won the last stage and have not received anything either. Are there other stage winners who received their prize from the Clipper Race?

May not be the right forum, but I need help to find out if they are cheating us

Thanks
Kallemans

Another update. I wrote to Clipper about the missing prizes earlier this week. Not that I'm eligible for a prize but I'm helping Kallemans.
They have not replied to me but instead removed the link to the Game page on their homepage.

Hi Karl,
I have not received anything neither. Maybe we have to wait more.

I am still competing in these races. But I don't pay any money whatsoever to get free cards, sails etc. And that is because I do not feel that they (VR company or what it is called) give us something in return...

Hi Lasse. In this case it´s not VR we have to clame. It is the official Clipper Race. VR have sent the registration on all 12-13 winners to the Clipper company.

Clipper Race have a very strange way of handle the questions i asked them. Thats why i asked other leg winners for help. If they cheat us im going to hunt them down.

What was the prize?

A few items 'clipper round the world' : a t-shirt, a cap, USB key, a bandana, 2 small books describing the race and the teams. I did not realize that most of the crew is actually non-experienced sailors. They got some training before each leg.

Yep, I was interested, got the brochure early this year. 4 x 1 week training in UK (mandatory), 6000 pound. Single leg ~ 5000 pound, add travel costs, ~ 15000 pound for 1 leg. Full package, training, all legs, 50000 pound (and one year no income). Unfortunately, I don't have the money

You have to pay them?!

Yep, it's a paid race for (possibly) complete amateurs who've never set foot on a boat before.

Personally, I'd buy a boat and sail around the world myself on a 50k pound budget ;-)

Can't agree more!

I got to tour the boats when they stopped in Seattle. They were quite interested to see zezo/VR when I showed how we'd been following them. It looked way better than the nav system they had under the cockpit. :-)

No mention of win at all on news feed or anywhere. A friend mentioned the prize. Sent various emails never recieved a reply from the game . Eventually got an email from clipper about prize pack but if i didn't reply in one day of email sent it meant agreement to give it to charity (I replied). But since my emails to the game it is though someone within is having 'fun' with my account; Early it was obvious course changes, programmed points dissapearing. Last course change absent when log back on. Be online and sailing but have apparently ran aground an hour earlier, happened four time, someone messaged me once and said i was aground while i was playing and had tacked a number of times since rounding an island. Recently it is not being able to log on to races, always at crucial times or like the MACIF where i could not access for the start of race for 6 hrs. But could then access pacific which had blocked me long enough to send me backwards a couple of hours. Complained once and got no reply again. just about to give up. Shame... i like the game.

I think the problems come from negative interactions between running multiple races at once. I had some similar issues with negative interactions between Legs 3 and 4 of Figaro vs. Pacific. But I'm not doing Macif, and had no trouble with Pacific by itself. At some point, Cvetan suggested it specifically had to do with a case where you're running two races at once and one of your races has one and only one programmation scheduled. I'm not sure if I understood him correctly of if he's right, but that seems to correspond to my own experience.

Anyway... I'm enjoing semi-retirement. Giving up on retaining a top VSR position, and choosing to just do the races I like best, makes it a lot more fun. If I keep racing, I'll probably almost never do two races simultaneously.

But who will I benchmark against!? I left three hours after you on the Pacific, but led you the entire way by at least an hour until the 50kt winds in Tokyo turned right in my face. Gotta sail all the buoys...

Tough break on the 22 second bathroom break you must have taken. ;-)

Good race! NZ-Eligo is a great boat and he deserved the win. These record attempts always come with some luck as to whether or not your starting time happens to be best. He and I both pushed it a little late, and his timing (half an hour after me) was a little more ideal. I could aggravate myself to no end about where 22 seconds could have been gained, but I've won four races and spent a year at VSR1, so it's easier to relax and enjoy his well-earned victory. I believe he was second to Mangina in Vendee, so he was due to finally post a 1.

I used to do great in events like the new Odyssey, and I think I'll do ok if I don't run aground, but a couple boats (particularly Speedo) are dominating those events now so I'll be happy with anything in the top 50, and I'll skip the later legs if I'm not doing well. And I had no interest in Macif... I've done too many events like that one to want to keep doing the same stuff over and over. At least Odyssey is something different.

That's the nature of my semi-retirement. I'll do the stuff that looks fun to me and falls nicely in my personal calendar, but I won't keep doing everything just for the sake of trying to hold VSR1.

Getting to your question... if you put the entire VSR top 20 in your "follow" list, you'll find plenty of excellent boats to benchmark against.

(Oh, and... I was really worried about you, Stormbringer, machaon, and the others that started even later, and was enjoying a couple beers while watching the 50 kts come too far forward for you to stay fast coming into the finish... That was fun... for me... ;-) ).

Thanks Mom, it's an honor to get name checked!

I was tracking Mom and the entire group of high ranking VSR players around him and I was ahead of everyone the whole way across. When NZ-Eligo popped up in first place on the ghost track I was still 40-50 miles ahead of her with 3-1/2 hours to finish. It is as Mom said, the wind clocked too far forward, I was beating by the end of it, doing 17 knots in 40 knots of breeze!

Congrats to NZ-Eligo!
