The problem is not about the weather data. The weather is publicly available from NOAA. The entire issue revolves aroud the boat position and is it possible and legal to fetch it from the game.

Even if it's technically possible you could be disqualified according to the VR TOS. But then you could be disqualified for a lot of things.

Doesn't your page show that it's possible to fetch the boat position from VR?
Moreover, it allows you to fetch ANY boat position, not just your own.
I don't think VR can disqualify a boat based on their server logs.

It won't work forever. Leftover functionality from the old game platform and will probably be shut down some day.
