Cvetan; your program advises HS and speed does not match the match. Actually now I get the best speed compared to advised direction with spinaker...

duplicate post?

That's a limitation of the current data format used by the site. The optimum sail is calculated only for the discrete wind speeds in the polars.

In this case (TWA 140) at 16kt the best sail is LS and at 18 the best is HS, so for certain speeds and TWAs the optimum sail will be wrong.

But the speed should correspond to the one possible with the real best sail.

Thanks for the quick response Cvetan. I understand but before the optimizer speed seems to match the game?

The difference exists only at certain wind speeds/angles. And different races use different polars.

With the PRO polars being artificial you never know what will come up in the next race - see what I've written in the first reply about this race here

In the VOR everything was perfectly in sync because polars were smoother and players had 9 months to reverse engineer and document all the quirks. We'll have to live with minor differences for shorter races - just don't trust the tool blindly about everything it says (you should not do that even if it was perfect)

I've found one more off-by-one error in my boat polars. That won't fix the 'best sail' issue, but the boat speeds should match now.

Speed matches the game now, cheers!
