Hello everybody.

I am watching/comparing the clipper game and zezo right now to see what options to pick for this new leg upcoming in 28 hrs or so, because I race in a small group where the unique condition is not to spend any money, and race collecting as much credits to spend them racing in the most races. I see the winds in zezo and the game do not match at all, therefore zezo wont be useful at all to make up my mind in the subject. Am I doing something wrong..?? Anybody experiencing the same problem?

First time I use this forum, so excuse me if the subject has been already mentioned and discussed... This is the 4th VOR I race, and I started using/consulting zezo from the beggining this present VOR version/season, and believe I already have some experience interpreting/using all the options and tools it provides. Its been very useful... Had a 23 and 49 place in the last volvo leg with my 2 boats (full options for the first time, limited cards), consulting zezo at all times. Had luck 2 times I fell asleep didnt awake with alarm, without serious consecuences...lol.

Regards and good winds everybody, and thanking any time and attention to the subject from anybody,

Fdo. Perez S. - Chile - (boats Don Chuma, Volcan Blanco).

The forecast is a bit weird before the race start. Game wind display is set at the time at the start but the boat sees the current weather.

To get everything in sync you should scroll the game wind offset back to current time and un-check the "Timeshift" box in the router.

Seems the Mangina/YourMom flyer is currently forecast to founder on the NW Cuba coast. NY arrival time still a lot closer to the 'obvious' route than I expected when their extreme position first became apparent.

I was racing my real boat on Sunday, and I set my plan for Monaco and for the NCR finish, and totally forgot about Clipper. The real races were very slow (light wind, multiple postponements), so I was on the water for about 6 hours. Then I put my boat away, etc. By the time I looked at a computer and realized I had forgotten the Clipper start, my boat had been sailing close to straight upwind for more than 4 hours. I was roughly 2-2.5 hours behind the main fleet. I decided it wouldn't be fun to chase the main group for 10 days with that big a deficit, so I made a left turn to go West of Cuba. It probably won't work... (definitely not unless the forecast changes). But it will be more fun than spending 10 days being annoyed with myself for handing the fleet a 2-hour advantage at the start.

Perhaps I should have followed the fleet. If I happened to get lucky with fleet compression at just the right time (like the end of the last Volvo leg), I might have been able to get back into it.

Mangina's personal schedule is going to keep him from being online much this week, so he decided to go West of Cuba to have a lower-maintenance route.

So... neither of us is expecting it to work. We just both happened to independently decide to give it a shot.

For those who don't know, though... The winner of the leg in the last edition of the Clipper took this route. But... that year, there was a big storm over my head in Texas when the race left Panama, and that storm got to Florida just in time to send the "West of Cuba" folks to the lead. This time, there's no storm over me in Texas and nothing in the forecast for me and Mangina to be optimistic about.

When the big dogs are away the little dogs get to play. There is palpable excitement in the trenches that this leg could be "the one". First the Cuba split, now the Inagua intrigue with the Mayaguana mystery to follow -East or West, which route is best? Decisions decisions decisions.
